Blind Date

It took everything Cassie had to fight her nerves as she moved through the picture perfect snowy landscape towards the location she'd been told for the blind date. Sure a part of her was excited but mostly she was nervous. Who could Cupid have set her up with? It helped a little that she knew it wasn't Kon. Actually, it helped alot.

Finally, she arrived at the empty hut and, after a deep breath, stuck her head inside. It had been decorated with tasteful silver and blue holiday decorations and in the center of the room was a beautifully set table for two, with another small table nearby with covered trays that she assumed was dinner. It looked...perfectly romantic and Cassie's breath caught in her throat, reminded of Valentine's Day and Kon and... She quickly shook her head to stop that train of thought. If anything, it proved how much she needed this.

Still looking around at the comfortable furnishings of the hut, she took off her coat and boots, revealing a nice dress Donna had helped pick out just for this occasion. Her hair was done up nicely and out of her coat pocket, she pulled out matching shoes for the dress. Once she'd fiddled with everything, peeked under the covers of the dishes and fussed with her hair in a convenient mirror, she settled down onto a couch by the wall to wait, eyes nervously trained on the door.

She caught him looking up at her a few times and blushed each time. Finally, Cassie grinned bashfully at him and asked, "What?"

[identity profile] ensignchekov.livejournal.com 2009-12-09 08:26 pm (UTC)(link)
He flushed slightly at that and laughed softly. "You just. Look really, really nice."

[identity profile] thethirdwonder.livejournal.com 2009-12-10 04:59 pm (UTC)(link)
"Thanks." She said as she ducked her head, wondering if her cheeks could get any hotter.

After chasing the last few leaves of salad around her plate with her fork, she said softly, "I'm glad it was you. Being my blind date and all." She didn't add that she'd hoped because that was a bit much.

[identity profile] ensignchekov.livejournal.com 2009-12-13 12:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Chekov grinned a little wider at her. "That is a good thing then," he said, laughing softly. "I like it this way too." Yeah, he really, really did.

He ducked his head a little and took a bite of the food, mostly to hide his own blush.

[identity profile] thethirdwonder.livejournal.com 2009-12-14 03:11 am (UTC)(link)
His smile was reassuring and she returned it, despite her lingering nerves. Her stomach was too much in knots to eat so she kept pushing the salad around on her plate.

"So...umm...How have you been?" She asked with a small wince, if anything just to fill the silence.

[identity profile] ensignchekov.livejournal.com 2009-12-14 05:30 am (UTC)(link)
Chekov grinned a little. "I've been okay. Getting over...the thing. A little." He shifted. "But it is good to see you again." After his little freak out.

He was totally not thinking about them kissing. At all. Ever.

As she was reminded of what had happened, Cassie reached out and took his hand over the table. "I'm glad to hear your feeling better about it. If there's anything I can do...?" She asked sincerely, wanting to help him in any way she could.

[identity profile] ensignchekov.livejournal.com 2009-12-17 05:33 pm (UTC)(link)
"You've been really great," Chekov told her, turning his hand over and catching hers, squeezing softly. "Really. You have already done so much."

[identity profile] thethirdwonder.livejournal.com 2009-12-18 05:21 am (UTC)(link)
"What are friends for?" She replied, her cheeks blushing once again as she felt his hand in hers. It was almost embarrassing, how his sweet touch reduced to such...such a...well, such a girl!

[identity profile] ensignchekov.livejournal.com 2009-12-18 09:06 am (UTC)(link)
Chekov smiled a little wider. "It is still a very nice thing that you did." Very, very nice. Especially the part where she kissed him. He blushed a little just thinking about it.

[identity profile] thethirdwonder.livejournal.com 2009-12-19 04:07 am (UTC)(link)
"I couldn't do anything else. Not when you looked so sad..." Cassie bit her lip. Well...she didn't kiss everyone she 'saved'. "I think whoever set this up knew about...you know. I wonder how." She hadn't told anyone, for fear it would get back to Kon. Not that it mattered but...she didn't want to hurt him.

[identity profile] ensignchekov.livejournal.com 2009-12-19 05:02 am (UTC)(link)
Chekov let out a soft laugh at that. "I am trying not to wonder," he said honestly. "Because otherwise I will be thinking about it all the time."

[identity profile] thethirdwonder.livejournal.com 2009-12-19 06:43 am (UTC)(link)
"I guess we could find other things for you to think about?" Cassie suggested, pushing her forgotten plate away to give him her full attention.

[identity profile] ensignchekov.livejournal.com 2009-12-19 07:54 am (UTC)(link)
"Like what?" He didn't point out that he hadn't let go of her hand. It was comforting, really, and - well, probably more than that - he just liked it.

[identity profile] thethirdwonder.livejournal.com 2009-12-20 12:23 am (UTC)(link)
"Well..." Cassie began as she tried to think of something...though really, their kiss was going on loop inside her brain. Not quite ready to go there yet, she looked back at the table of food. "We could start with dinner?"

[identity profile] ensignchekov.livejournal.com 2009-12-20 04:45 am (UTC)(link)
He grinned. "The next course, maybe? Just salad cannot be dinner."

[identity profile] thethirdwonder.livejournal.com 2009-12-20 06:09 am (UTC)(link)
"The next course." She agreed with a small nod as she partly stood up to uncover the plates. "Mmm...well, it smells good." Concentrate on the food, she told herself, to keep herself focused.

[identity profile] ensignchekov.livejournal.com 2009-12-20 06:23 am (UTC)(link)
Chekov stood to put the salad plates to the side and move their main course to the table, grinning over at her as he sat down again.

[identity profile] thethirdwonder.livejournal.com 2009-12-22 01:36 am (UTC)(link)
Cassie smiled her thanks as she took a bite. "Wow...I wish I knew who to thank for this because it's really good." Then she paused for a few bites before asking, "So...what did you do at home, other then Starfleet of course?" She'd wanted to ask if he'd left anyone at home, but that sounded...odd.

[identity profile] ensignchekov.livejournal.com 2009-12-23 03:41 pm (UTC)(link)
Chekov shrugged a little and offered her a small smile. "Not a lot," he admitted. "Most of my free time was spent doing something related to my work. I did not get out much."

[identity profile] thethirdwonder.livejournal.com 2009-12-27 05:36 pm (UTC)(link)
"You spent your free time doing work? Doesn't that defeat the purpose of 'free' time?" She asked teasing as she took another bite. "Nothing done for fun at all?"

Of course, not much time also could mean he didn't have time to date much...

[identity profile] ensignchekov.livejournal.com 2009-12-27 07:43 pm (UTC)(link)
"That is fun for me?" Chekov admitted, cheeks colouring a little. "I know I should try more but it is very hard."

[identity profile] thethirdwonder.livejournal.com 2009-12-29 12:11 am (UTC)(link)
"Well, if your enjoying it that much, I guess I can't argue. Fun is fun, no matter where you find it." Cassie paused for a minute and didn't look at him as she asked, "So...no girlfriend?" Then she blushed and bit her lip, "or boyfriend?" Well, she had to ask, especially considering this place.

[identity profile] ensignchekov.livejournal.com 2009-12-29 06:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Chekov blushed as well, but he tried for a small laugh as he shook his head. "No, no one."

[identity profile] thethirdwonder.livejournal.com 2009-12-31 03:38 am (UTC)(link)
"Oh good." Cassie said with a sigh of relief. And then she realized how that sounded and tried to recover, "I mean, I didn't mean good that you had no one at home...or that you had to leave those people that I'm sure you do have...and Umm...crap. This isn't working."

She took a deep breath to collect herself. "I mean...I was kinda hoping the position was open?" She looked down as she asked, not able wanting to see his reaction if he thought it was too soon or hated the idea.
