For Kon

Cassie was really beginning to hate the rain. She'd come up the compound for a shower but by the time she'd gotten there, she was drenched as was everything in the bag she'd used to bring her change of clothes. So before going into the bathroom, she'd put her clothes in the dryer and was now searching through the clothes box while she waited. Unfortunately, everything was either Superman or Batman related and neither appealed to her for various reasons.

And that was a thought Cassie would have been glad Kon hadn't voiced. "And there was no obvious culprit?" She had to keep asking questions to have something else to focus on.

"Not unless you were the one hiding my clothes," Kon pointed out. He knew she wasn't. Especially not when she could barely stand to look at him.

That just made her roll her eyes. "Right. Like I don't have better things to do then sneak into the boys bathroom and steal your clothes. Especially since the boys bathroom smells like week old feet."

"Then no, I don't know who did it or why. I'd just like some clothes." He said that last pointedly, since she was still standing in front of the box. "Even if it's just boxers."

Cassie frowned at his pointed tone before she realized what he wanted. "Oh...OH!" She got up and moved to the other side of the box. "Sorry." It occurred to her what would happen when he knelt down to look through the box...and she was torn on what to do so she just stared into the box.

It wasn't until he started to bend down that he realized the trouble. He frowned and adjusted the towel a little so that the crack was on his waist on the side away from Cassie and he held on tightly. "It's…okay." Okay. Right. God. Maybe he should have just walked home in the towel. That would have been less embarrassing than this.

As she stared into the box to avoid looking at him, Cassie spotted a pair of purple boxers. She grabbed them and stood up so she could hand them to Kon so he didn't have to bend down...and just ran right into his bare chest. "Here Kon I...oh."

Kon swallowed, grabbed the boxers away from Cassie, and closed his eyes. "I should probably go," he whispered. This...whatever this was...it was a really bad idea. Especially considering how much he wanted it.

"Yeah..." Cassie said in an identical whisper as she resisted the urge to reach out and touch his chest. Instead, she looked up at him. "Kon...these moments...are they ever going to go away?" Despite asking the question, she really didn't know how she wanted him to answer. Both were equally frightening.

"Yes," he promised, even if he wasn't entirely sure they would stop. If it kept happening…well, there were ways to stop them. He didn't want to lose his best friend, but she'd already said she'd be happier without him.

Had she said that? She couldn't remember anymore. "Okay." She closed her eyes and sighed. This had to stop, or how would either of them be happy. Of course, one suggestion nagged at her but they'd already tried that and look where it had gotten them?

Still, she stood on her toes and kissed him lightly, as if she couldn't help herself. "I...I'll see you later Kon." She turned to go quickly, not wanting to face him after that.
