Homplot Wake Up Post

Normally, Cassie wasn't one to spend a lot of time in bed. But lately, or really the last two days, it had taken everything she had to get out of bed in the morning. Someone people might have been excited to find out the king of the Greek gods was their father but for Cassie, it just made her miserable. The powers she'd felt she'd earned for her bravery now felt cheapened. It just...it just wasn't fair.

And because she'd spent more time in bed, she knew instantly when she woke up that she wasn't on the island. After the events in the Fire Nation the month before, Cassie woke up quickly and sat up at the ready, wanting to be prepared for wherever she'd found herself. It was with a small sigh of relief when she realized that she was asleep on the couch of Young Justice headquarters. She took a deep breath and made herself float for the first time in years. Even through her depression, she couldn't help a small smile.

"Hey, I'm not-"

Sam grunted as she hit him in the shoulder, not expecting her to hit him that hard at all. Standing near the edge, he failed a bit before he tumbled over the side.

"Oh shit!"

"Oh Hera!" Cassie saw him fall and was reacting a moment later. She flew down and scooped him up, flying back to the top of the roof so there was less chance of falling. "Oh my gosh, Sam, I'm so sorry!"

Almost before he knew what was going on, Sam back on top of the headquarters. He would have preferred that she had placed him back on the ground, but for now he would just be happy that he wasn't falling.

"No, no, no, it's fine," he said, shaking his head while he caught his breath. "I should have watched where I was standing. You know, rooftops without rails, should have definitely been standing back."

[identity profile] thethirdwonder.livejournal.com 2011-05-05 04:31 am (UTC)(link)
Cassie felt awful as he panicked. "Here." She put her arms around his waist, sitting right next to him as she could brace him in case he began to fall again. "I just...I wanted to show you the stars. I can fly you down if you really want..." She tried to hide the disappointment in her voice as she offered but she didn't want him scared either.

[identity profile] not-so-smooth.livejournal.com 2011-05-05 08:35 pm (UTC)(link)
"No, no, no, don't do that," Sam said. He could tell that she felt awful, and he didn't want her too, this was actually pretty cool of her.

"Maybe I'll just... hold on to you. You know. For support," he said, sliding an arm behind her, half putting it around her.

"And I do like the stars from up here."

[identity profile] thethirdwonder.livejournal.com 2011-05-15 09:15 pm (UTC)(link)
While she didn't completely believe him, Cassie still gave him a smile, scooting closer so they could both hold on tighter. "Hold away. I don't want you falling again."

Then she looked up at the sky, with a small sigh of relief. "It's nice to see the proper stars in the sky. It's the little things you miss most about home."

[identity profile] not-so-smooth.livejournal.com 2011-05-15 09:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Sam felt his stomach twist in a rather pleasant way as Cassie moved closer. Sam leaned into her and gave her a half hug as he 'hung on' to her up on the roof. Staring up at the sky, he wondered if Cybertron was out there somewhere in this universe.

"Have you ever been to any of them?"

[identity profile] thethirdwonder.livejournal.com 2011-05-16 01:36 am (UTC)(link)
"Yeah." Cassie said simply as she looked through the constellations before pointing. "There was an interplanetary war in a galaxy about there were we were the medics. And there," She pointed to another point in the night sky, "We played baseball to save the earth on a planet about there. And I know I've been to others but I can't remember where they are."

"I was taking astronomy at college," Sam said, watching her point out the different places she's been.

"I can't really imagine going to any of them, back and forth to more than one."

[identity profile] thethirdwonder.livejournal.com 2011-05-17 01:55 am (UTC)(link)
"Astronomy? Really?" Cassie thought for a moment then asked a bit bashfully, "It occurs to me that I don't know what you were going to school for in the first place."

Then she looked back up at the stars. "I don't know. it was a bit out there, even for me. Nothing compares to going to another planet, except maybe flying."

[identity profile] not-so-smooth.livejournal.com 2011-05-17 04:38 am (UTC)(link)
"I think Astrophysics," Sam said. The things that the Autobots had told him about space made him that much more curious about it. Besides, ever since having all that information from the Primes in his head, he'd realized just how much there was to know about reality, still.

"Maybe someday I'll get to visit another planet. You know, one that's in my own reality."

[identity profile] thethirdwonder.livejournal.com 2011-05-19 05:22 am (UTC)(link)
"Astrophysics. Wow, you really must be smart." It was said with pure awe. Cassie wasn't dumb, but she knew her strengths were laid elsewhere, even excluding her super powers. And she greatly respected those people who genuinely were, like Tim, Chekov and now Sam. To be honest, it was a very attractive quality to her in a guy.

Then she just smiled. "Hopefully, someday you will. In the meantime, you could always become an astronaut. Flying the space shuttle would be pretty neat."

[identity profile] not-so-smooth.livejournal.com 2011-05-20 04:53 am (UTC)(link)
"I think I more just like space," Sam said with a laugh. He knew he was probably smarter than average, but mostly he worked hard. School was a lot easier when you actually did the work instead of thinking of ways to get out of it.

"And I don't know, it would be really cool to spend some time on the Space Station."

[identity profile] thethirdwonder.livejournal.com 2011-05-24 03:29 am (UTC)(link)
That was the truth. Cassie had often just thought of school as what she did when she wasn't being Wonder Girl, never taking it very seriously.

"That would be cool. Even for me."

Then she turned and looked at him. "So, these things usually last a day or so. Anything you might want to do tomorrow?"

[identity profile] not-so-smooth.livejournal.com 2011-05-24 06:51 am (UTC)(link)
"Just hanging out would be nice," Sam said. "You know, Cissie, Bart, you and I. Maybe we can call it a date and see if we can nudge those two toward being more than friends.

Alright, and Sam wanted to spend time with Cassie without making it too obvious, but he really did think Cissie and Bart should get on toward admitting how they felt.

[identity profile] thethirdwonder.livejournal.com 2011-05-25 03:49 am (UTC)(link)
"That's...not a bad idea actually." Cassie said after considering it for a moment. Because really, where was a better place for those two to get a clue then at home? "I know a great burger joint that is a few blocks from a movie theater. It would be casual enough for us to get away with it, I think."

She'd never admit it, but she was thinking along the same lines as Sam. This would be the perfect way to hang out and relax for them, as well as Cissie and Bart.

[identity profile] not-so-smooth.livejournal.com 2011-05-25 08:25 pm (UTC)(link)
"I can be pretty devious when I have to be," Sam told her, grinning as he said so. He wasn't actually all the devious, but there was no reason he couldn't fake it.

"Burgers and a movie sounds pretty awesome though, I'd like that a lot."

[identity profile] thethirdwonder.livejournal.com 2011-05-26 01:33 am (UTC)(link)
"It's a date then." Cassie paused before grinning and adding, "For Cissie and Bart."

[identity profile] not-so-smooth.livejournal.com 2011-05-26 06:21 am (UTC)(link)
"Right, but we shouldn't call it that," Sam added quickly in an attempt to ignore all the weird feelings that were threatening to surface.

"Because they will freak if we call it that."

[identity profile] thethirdwonder.livejournal.com 2011-05-30 08:31 pm (UTC)(link)
"Friendly teen hang out day?" Cassie suggested with a joking grin, mostly to cover her own feelings on the subject.

[identity profile] not-so-smooth.livejournal.com 2011-06-02 04:21 am (UTC)(link)
"Platonic friendly teen hang out day," Sam suggested. He felt the platonic was important to mention.

"And we'll know the platonic part is really ironic. For them. Ironic for them."

[identity profile] thethirdwonder.livejournal.com 2011-06-04 03:59 am (UTC)(link)
"For them. Of course." Cassie stressed. For Sam of course. To show she got it.

"So...."

[identity profile] not-so-smooth.livejournal.com 2011-06-05 03:53 am (UTC)(link)
"So do you guys really live here part of the time?" Sam asked, not so smoothly shifting the conversation away from the "platonic" date.
