Normally, Cassie wasn't one to spend a lot of time in bed. But lately, or really the last two days, it had taken everything she had to get out of bed in the morning. Someone people might have been excited to find out the king of the Greek gods was their father but for Cassie, it just made her miserable. The powers she'd felt she'd earned for her bravery now felt cheapened. It just...it just wasn't fair.

And because she'd spent more time in bed, she knew instantly when she woke up that she wasn't on the island. After the events in the Fire Nation the month before, Cassie woke up quickly and sat up at the ready, wanting to be prepared for wherever she'd found herself. It was with a small sigh of relief when she realized that she was asleep on the couch of Young Justice headquarters. She took a deep breath and made herself float for the first time in years. Even through her depression, she couldn't help a small smile.

"Dude, all I know is that you upset her and it had something to do with her dad. And if you're biding your time, you're gonna have a loooong wait. I've been here for almost two and a half years now." Sure, there were plenty of people who left much earlier than that, but there were also a lot of people who had been here years longer than he had. "So it's going to be a lonely time if you're not looking to make friends."

Now he's hitting my main problem. It's a bit irritating that the guy's really right about my situation. But even though I can be friendly and all that when I want to be, I don't want friends. It's probably because most of the time I don't want to be my own friend.

"Yeah, I've noticed it's gonna be a long wait. Have fun with your friends. I'm going to go camp out by the video games for most of the day, alright?"

I stop leaning on the wall and pick up my sword with my free hand to take it with me. But the guy's standing right in front of me.

"Awesome," Kon said easily. "It's been a while since I got a chance to play any of these games."

Did he just say...?

As I walk by him and head back to the video games, I see he's following me. Gods. When I enter the game room, I sit back in the chair I had woken up in, set Backbiter next to me, and start loading up more games.

"When I said go have fun with your friends, I wasn't referring to me, you know. I don't even know your name."

Please tell me this guy is just security-minded and isn't the male version of Gabrielle. I'm just...NOT wanting to deal with sunshine right now. I take another sip of Coke as I scroll through my game options.

"Kon. Kon-El if you're going to go for my full name. And I wasn't talking about going out into the sunshine. I was talking about a video game. Come on. No one here is going to play with me." And tomorrow, hoping there was a tomorrow, he would go fly out home and figure out whether Clark was there or Ma and Pa Kent or what was going on. Today? Today he'd babysit for a little while. He owed Cassie that, if nothing else.

As I realize he's not going to leave me be, I let out a sigh as I decide to just go with it.

"Alright, fine."

I make the cursor scroll through a few more options, then I just pick something.

"Kon-El sounds a lot like a Krypton name. Wasn't Superman's name Cal-El or something?"

I am not a comic book expert by any stretch of the imagination, but I know a few things.

Kon snorted. "You really don't know how to talk to people, do you? It's a good thing Clark's not a secret or anything. Yeah, that's a Krypton name. I was named by Kal. You might not want to go spouting off something like that if and when we get back. There are plenty of people from books or television shows or something who don't know about it. They wouldn't take too nicely about being from one."

I know how to talk to people, but I just don't get why all of these superkids are so touchy. At this point, I'm really frustrated with this whole situation. I do have half a mind to stop playing nice and just get out of here whether they like it or not. I know they can't keep me prisoner here. But maybe I'll just give myself a chance to cool off.

I'm done with any talk of them and their powers, though. I give Kon and glance and go back to playing the game.

Kon just shrugged and joined him on the couch. When Luke was done playing this, he'd join in and maybe then they'd all figure out what was going on.
