Halloween Pony Attack: The Beginning

If there was one thing Cassie was really starting to enjoy, it was waking up next Sam. Sure they were still only just sleeping, literally, but it was warm and cozy and definitely something she could get used too.

Even the 'sleeping together' bit was getting more familiar and comfortable. Sam had insisted on showing her different ways he could please her without going all the way, blowing her mind in so many good and new ways. But he still wasn't letting her reciprocate yet.

But today that was going to change. Today was Halloween and in honor of the holiday, it was time for Sam to get some pay back. They were in Sam's hut and Cassie had woken up early as per usual. But instead of going for a run or meeting a sparring partner for a morning workout, she'd stayed to watch Sam sleep for a while was she planned her next move carefully. Finally, with a smug grin, she leaned in to kiss him awake. "Wake up sleepy head. Happy Halloween."

Little did she know, they were being watched by beady little black eyes behind a rainbow forelock.

"No, no, no!" Sam shouted as he scrambled out of the way. As much as he wanted to be the manly hero, he knew that getting out of the way and letting Cassie do her things was the smartest option.

"I got it!" he shouted, grabbing his pillow and swinging it as hard as he could at the plush.

No matter what Sam might think, swinging the pillow worked out perfectly. It distracted the creepy plush so Cassie could drop her arms and take aim. "Sam, step back!"

Once he was out of the way, she jumped up and kicked the plush pony out the window.

"Holy crap we make an awesome team," Sam said, reaching out to get a fist bump from her. The pillow might not be the most noble of weapons, but apparently it was the right one when it came to fighting plush animals.

"And what the fuck was that?!"

The fist bump was more automatic then anything as Cassie's thoughts were in Wonder Girl mode. "I think that was the island saying Happy Halloween. I wonder if all of the carnival toys changed into monsters or were we just lucky?"

"I hate this island so, so much right now," Sam sighed. He would have thought that after several months worth of waiting and being patient, of not pressuring... that he could at least catch a break. Not so.

"We'd better go check and make sure everyone else is alright."

When Cassie looked back at him and her expression faltered. She did feel bad about the interruption but they couldn't continue, not until they'd made sure people were alright. "Yeah, we really should." Then she added softly, "Sorry."

"Hey, it's not your fault," he said, reaching out to give her hand a quick squeeze. Yes, circumstances really, really sucked but that didn't diminish his elation that she was willing to go there. Well, maybe it did a little, but it was a comforting thought.

"No rest for superheroes and their boyfriends, right?"

"Something like that." Cassie said as she squeezed Sam's hand in return and then pulled him closer so she could kiss his cheek. "I'm lucky I got a guy who understands." And she meant it, more then he could ever know.

Then with a sigh, she let go and started searching out some clothes.
