Gender Switch Gathering Post

The Titans Treehouse was quiet early in the morning. The sun had not yet risen so most of the residents were still asleep. Or they were, until a loud shout tore through the air.

Cassie came bursting through her door, still dressed in her sweats and S-shirt pajamas, and while the shirt suddenly fit her a bit better, the sweats were too short. This would be because she was suddenly a he! She wasn't panicking exactly, but she wanted answers and she wanted them now. Yes, she'd been briefed that these kind of things happened, but being briefed and having them actually happen was a whole different thing. A whole different thing being mainly the thing between her legs she was pointedly ignoring.

As the others started drifting out of their rooms, she looked to the others who had been on the island for longer then a month. "Alright, someone explain, Now!" She said in her best Wonder Girl...Boy tone, frowning as her voice came out much rougher then normal.

"I don't look that different, do I?" Bart said, moving over towards him. Then she blinked. "Whoa, you're taller than me. That's a change."

No. No way. Kon looked - there was no way he would call it 'checked out' - the girl. Red hair. Red hair and strange things that went on at the island, Bart and Tim had said. Bart. No way.

"Clearly, since I don't know who you are."

"Welcome to the island," Bart said, dryly. "Kon, it's me. Bart. And don't worry, this kind of thing usually wears off in a few days."

Kon wasn't afraid to admit that his jaw dropped when the girl - Bart, apparently - said who she - he? - was. "Bart as in...Bart Bart? Tall guy, much too old for his own good, even if he's still not as old as Tim?"

"The guy you punched in the jaw your first day on the island, Bart?" Bart responded, arching one delicate eyebrow. "Wait until you see Tim. He's got..." She made a gesture at chest-level to indicate large breasts, only belatedly remembering she had a smallish set of her own.

Kon couldn't help but look down at the gesture that Bart made. His mouth was still open and he couldn't really help that he was staring. That was really Bart. And apparently Tim was...and he wasn't even sure if he wanted to think about Cassie.

"What.." He cleared his throat, really wishing it hadn't just squeaked a little. "What's going on?"

"It does this sometimes. Changes people without warning," Bart said, running a hand in frustration through longer hair. She didn't really know what to think right now. "I'm still me, my mind's the same, it's just that I'm different on the outside. It never lasts long. A few days at most."

"A few days. That's better than a week or two." Not as good as never, but it looked like he wouldn't be able to get away with that.

He scowled at Bart a little. "I don't think that it's not you in there. I just wasn't sure what was going on. It's not every day you wake up and this happens. Random food and drink is one thing. Friends turning into girls is something else completely.

"Try having your worst fear come to life," Bart said, softly. Then she realized what she said, and how Kon might take it. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean..."

She didn't know what to say, because this was all too awkward. "Maybe I should go."

"You mean like Daddy dearest on the island and Clark shunning me?" Kon folded his arms across his chest. "Yeah, no worst fears there, Bart."

Kon closed his eyes. It wasn't supposed to be like this with Bart. He was supposed to be one of the fun ones and, between him and Kon and Cassie, they were supposed to be able to counter Tim's emo. Maybe not Dick's, too, but at least Tim's. Instead, Bart was just adding to the problem.

"They don't deserve you," Bart said, flatly. Then he looked away. "You've got a life to go back to. I don't. Maybe it's only a short time, but it's more than I've got. Funny that the only one of us without powers is the one who gets to live."

"How long do I have, Bart? I bet you could tell me how many months, weeks, days. Minutes, even?" Kon sighed. It was always like this with Bart, now. Always and he couldn't seem to stop it. He moved forward quickly, gripping Bart's arm. "Stop it. Just, stop it, Bart."
